Tennessee Gesneriad Society 2011 show
The show was in Nashville at Cheekwood on September 10-11.  I had a great time and bought lots of
new plants to try.
The show began on a sad note with the death of a longtime member, Richard Holder died on
September 8, 2011.   Richard took care of the plant sales and was a well known hybridizer.  I used his
double calyx
Sinningia 'Cherry Delight' to make my own fully double calyx hybrid.  He will be greatly
missed by all who knew him.

Aeschynanthus, Saintpaulia

I put this picture on so you can see the plant in my hand, it is Sinningia 'White Sprite' a
micro-miniature that grows in a terrarium.  It is the plant that won Best Gesneriad in Show.
The cup is a prize for winning, it has a Smithiantha hand painted on it.

The bloom on this gesneria doesn't look real, it looks like it has been made from bright
orange felt and then handpainted.  Carol Ann gave me a big piece for cuttings.
